Never Know

Oh how could I know
that this life was always mine
oh I wonder just how long ago
I severed my own lifeline
oh cause even if I tried
I never knew I was digging
a hole for the day I died
I didn't hear the angels singing
my name, they were calling my name
when every sound, sounded the same
I couldn't hear them say this hole
is meant for only my soul
oh when we met, how could I know
I would never let you go
oh how could you know
what my whispered words were
when you were always with her
oh how could you know
that I could never let you go
when you changed, I stayed the same
and my last outward breath
will be saying your name
as I give myself to the angel of death
many years from now

Great job, I totally agree.  You did a good job of portraying how fate is unpredictable and making the reader feel how daunting that is.

Oh My Gosh LilZo11!! I absolutely LOVE this poem! I cried! Beautiful! This is so deeply written. And it touches me cause, my boyfriend is in the Air National Force, and he is going away for 6 months in a couple weeks. I give you 5 stars for this! And if people cant see the true talent that is in you reading this then I dont know, cause I sure can!! Keep up the outstanding work!! You should "really" get this published in a magazine!
