"I just can't be strong all the time," he says, his eyes on the road.
But his voice cracks, and he turns his head so I can't see
a tear.
Because he'll never be good enough.

He's worth a thousand "I love yous" and a thousand "you're perfects" but I can't muster up
even one
Because my pride is worth more to me.

"I can't believe you would do this to me," he says, his eyes on the ceiling.
But his voice cracks, and he turns his head so I can't see
a tear
Because he can never seem to satisfy anyone.

He's worth a thousand "I'm sorrys" and a thousand "I wish I could take it backs" but I can't muster up
even one
Because I never consider feelings.

"So I guess it's over," I say, my eyes on my ring. But my voice cracks, and I turn my head so he can't see
a tear
Because I can't help what I've become.

All I need is one "it's not over" or one "lets work it out" but he doesn't say
anything
Because he doesn't even see me anymore.

And all I feel is the emptiness, and the slow beating of the heart that hardly ever feels like mine anymore.
