Flying Feet

April 22, 2012

I take off with feet as light as air
Pounding the pavement against my soles
Feeling free as my legs gain speed
An illusion of strength fills my mind
My lungs inhale the soft air
While my soles pound the pavement
My wings falter
Losing momentum
Confidence escapes
Trying to hold onto my desires
I push on
Through the weakness and pain
My feet slightly heavier
My lungs protesting
While my feet are flying
Pounding the pavement against my soles
Thoughts fuel my triumph
Doubts fuel my defeat
But my feet continue
Waiting for the end
When there doesn't seem to be one in sight
