I close my eyes
To take a nap
Under the sun lit sky
Trees blowing in the wind
Birds calling one another
A shot sounding in the air
A SHOT!?
Yes, a shot
From the barrel of a gun
Off in the distance
That’s where I heard it
While closing my eyes
Another one
Closer
One more
Closer yet
Until finally it’s on top of me
Not 20 feet away
A man with a gun
And headed my way
