Black smoke pouring forth
Darkening the afternoon
As truck sirens wail
The window's ladder
Helps bring people to safety
And then is removed
The fire trucks arrive
But I can't see the hoses
'Cause I drive away

I saw a fire in an apartment building, and I was really curious about what was going to happen and if the people were going to be okay, but my family left and I had to go too. I came home and wrote this, still wondering what had happened.
