3000 Wishes
Three years ago today,
I saw her for the first time,
I saw her smile,
And I knew,
I’d give up the world,
To walk beside her,
To hold her hand,
To see her smile.
So from three years ago today,
I began to wish,
I wished to be hers,
I wished for a soft kiss,
I wished for tender hugs,
And I wished.
Blown candles on cakes,
Millions of dandelion seeds,
Pennies in fountains,
The first star each night,
And on shooting stars I wished,
That one day she’d be mine.
I’ve been waiting patiently,
But I know that this must end.
It’s time to move on,
It’s time for me to go,
But as a parting gift,
I handed her my three thousand wishes
And said,
Love has no end,
And I love you, I do,
Here is the proof.
So keep these wishes,
And hold them tight.
For if ever you feel
Alone or unwanted,
As if you’re not beautiful,
And no longer a star,
You can look at these wishes,
And realize what you really are.
