Summer Sunsets

Summer sunsets
always fade
too quickly
seems like I can never grasp ahold of them
grip them steady
stare into their fiery soul
where clouds stir and stars lurk
they evaporate like rain
and before I know it,
stars are tossed across the night sky
fixed
and the moon
shines on
shrugs its shoulders
and apologizes
I linger
waiting
for the next sunset
