The Keyboard

The keyboard a constant flutter of clicks
As my fingers fly across the keys
The page a never ending sea of words
As my thoughts pour out onto paper
Each letter, word and sentence you see
Are all spouts for the pain
It flows from my heart, to my fingers and beyond
Onto files, discs and hard drives alike
Each poem or story or simple idea
Is another agonizing feeling torn out
The keyboard is my one outlet
My only escape from the pain
Without my keyboard, without my words
I would be lost in the darkness of my soul

I'm more of a pencil-paper person, myself, but I think you accurately portray every writer's feelings on the subject. :)
