Daylily
The sun slowly rises,
Flooding the sky with light
pinks and reds.
The daylily wakes.
The heat leaves behind a scorching kiss
On the dry caked blackened earth
Leaving nothing in its wake but dread
The sun falls
Past the end of the earth
A withered lily perks in the light of a silver moon
One last dance before
The sun returns
