The transition years
I glance in the mirror and see a
Woman;
I glance in their eyes and am met with a
Girl.
My responsibilities grow in tandem with their mistrust.
How can I meet their expectations when
I am
Instantly a delinquent in their eyes?
Neither
A criminal nor a saint, I’m just a person
In between stages in my life.
I am
Tired of their doubt, I grow weary of their hope;
And I can’t help but wonder- will I ever be free of
Both?
