Ten Years Ago

Crashing bodies all around
Dust rising from the ground
Thick; with fear
Stinging eyes as they start to tear

Ten years ago
Ash covered like snow
My fate was sealed
As I kept eyes peeled

Fighting for days
Losing our ways
Our country is lost
So what is our cause?

Raise high your hand,
To make a stand?
Protect our land,
From the hostile sand?

Why am I here?
Sometimes I fear
I see these men
Not my family again

Ten years ago
Ash covered like snow
Bodies lined up by row
And now we all know

We won't return; we will
Remain in this hole
All from the attack
Ten years ago

I've seen many faces
I've shot many faces...
All from that day
Ten years ago

This poem is about 9/11 and it supposed to be read from the perspective of a soldier who is over seas.
