"writers write, so they can taste life twice"

Torn Apart
Ripped to shreds
The biggest hope
Is they won’t be dead
Under the ground
The whistle will blow
Sound of freedom
Will haunt their head

Their one goal
That has four letters
Their only goal
Their only hope
Their loved ones
May be torn apart
Their bodies will suffer
Agony will surround
Their every move
Freedom will forever
Whisper and intrude

I was inspired to write this after learning about the discrimination toward slaves.

Great poem! This really opens MANY people's eyes to what happened to slaves before the end of the Civil War. The only thing I did not like was the rhythm. To me, it was rather inconsistent. Other than that, I love the poem!
