The incessant breathing of the night
Inhales the water-colored-finger fumes
Of hapless children’s hopeless gazes
And wandered lovers’ twisted hearts.

The dark coats all in frigid blankets
Of sameness and lackluster scrutiny
As the stars hear sighs and unsung ballads
Of the dreamers’ aching lip.
