Fizz, pop, bang, sizzle, sizzle.
The sound of fireworks booms.
“Shh” says mother “You’ll miss it.”
We hold our breath and wait
5,4,3,2,1. Not long now.
There!
A faint trail of smoke
launching into the jet black night.
Oohs and aahs all around
They’re coming faster now
I can feel them in my chest
Like a thousand stampeding rhinos.
Fizz, pop, bang, sizzle, sizzle.
The sound of fireworks booms.
Everyone stands to applaud.
