Open Minded
It’s silly to think that all we learn these days is to be open-minded.
Give a girl a pair of glasses, and she’s a nerd.
Give her Abercrombie sweatpants, she’s a prep.
Give a guy a soccer jersey, he’s a jock.
Give him tight jeans, and he’s emo.
He must cut himself.
You should probably avoid him.
The girl crying in the bathroom?
She is such a drama queen.
You should shun her.
Open-Minded?
Coexist?
Anti-Bullying movement?
Speak to us in a language we understand.
Teach us.
We don’t need self help books, or slide shows on internet safety.
We don’t need Sex-Ed videos from the early nineties.
Teach us, we’ll listen.
We’re not all bad,
And those of us who have been branded so?
Read the above poem.
