Lungs
With your fingers
wrapped gently around
my ribs, curled tenderly
in the spaces between each
lonely bone, as if your print
had been there before,
waiting,
I understand the
urgent importance of each
inhale and exhale;
I breathe deeply
and you move with me
as I hope to show you
something of me
that I have yet
to see,
that you will read with your hands
what my lungs have,
thus far,
been unable
to say.
