The Painter
Even with my head in the clouds
A nagging voice in my head lingers
Why should I always try?
Never give up? Is that that truly the answer?
Some of the greatest people in history had to give up
It wasn’t an option, but a necessity
My own mother gave up once.
Gave up her career to be at home,
To pat me on the back when I got good grades
And to help me up when I fell
She made the hard choice.
She gave up her career, but did not give in
She still paints to this day,
Intricate cityscapes and shimmering lakes.
Even if you have to give something up, never give in.
