in the shadow of a rose
Unintimidated and not afraid
A little weed stands up to a big flower.
Done with wallowing in the shade and being afraid,
It looks up to glower at the flower.
Proud and vain in its beauty
it dare not see
how inferior it can be.
To a little weed which no one will heed,
invisible and unimportant
no one can see
how amazing it can be
So it stands up
all its courage used up,
it says no.
No to being treated like dirt
and never crying even though it hurt
it finely expresses its emotions
and shows the world its devotion
by speaking up to the flower
And making it cower.
And so the flower steps down
relinquishing its crown.
And the weed is happy it has imposed,
because now it’s no longer in the shadow of a rose
