There is always a last time.
The last time walking
Through the school
As a student
Feeling completely at home.

There had to be a last time
To hang around with friends
After school
In the many twisting hallways.

The final time
To cram
The night before a test
Wondering if all the things you study
Will get you that “A”
You so desperately need.

The last time
To join the clubs
That make you feel excited
To be a part of
With those who are
Exactly like you.

There had to be a last time
To go,
Watch,
And enjoy
My friend’s big performance
In the school’s band
During their concerts.

The last time
To see my teachers
Who have
Inspired,
Encouraged, and pushed me
To do my best.

The final time
To sit in those desks
Listening to
Uninteresting lectures
On the things you
Will not use in your career.

There had to be a last time
To be praised for your hard work
In your favorite class
With your favorite
Teacher.

The last time
To be near your friends
That you won’t be seeing
In quite a while.

There has to be a last time
For everything,
But new times are just beginning.
