Thoughts Skin Deep
Thin silver lining,
My most treasured scar;
A rare piece of heartache,
It’s my fault for taking it this far.
A shard of a broken mirror,
Reflecting a scattered image;
Yet I see you so much clearer,
As you cover the pain with a bandage.
Stop denying who you are,
You’re not fooling me;
I know you’re making promises
That you don’t intend to keep.
Your memory forever on my wrist,
A reminder of my worst and
The motivation to be my best,
“Can you live with this?”
