Getting Closer
The room was light and warm
His eyes showed hope
Lending a secure feeling
which I really needed
I wanted to tell him everything
The therapist
the doctor you go to when you need a social makeover
yep me a faceless teen
needing help from a shrink
He bared a big white smile
He asked me questions
I didn’t think I knew the answers too
He stood up and searched me
analyzing my very self
Who am I
I asked
That’s up too you
said the magician
He opened the door to the horrors outside
Its time to go he said
Time to go
I didn’t want to leave
his knowledge
was like a safety blanket
I could tell him anything
and he’d tell me what it meant
His knowledge will soften the blow
when the time comes
to tell people
I am gay and proud
But until then
I will continue to look for myself
