Dunes of golden grains of sand
Line the asphalt paths of broken
Dreams opening to windows of desolation,
Offering no hope.

The flight seems moot,
Looking forth to none, but
In the golden sands that capture your soul,
A solitary bud flourishes,
Fiery red in the burning sun
You imagine dark summer grass,
Crystal blue skies and white halos
And you finally breathe again
