Beach Daze

Peaking out
from beneath the clouds,
The sun gleams high and bright.
Ocean waves
crashing loud,
The aqua blue streaming light.
The ocean breeze
through my hair,
Sand gems between my toes
Children gawk and stare,
as the smell of oil surrounds my nose.
White foam in wave creases
Laughter in the air
Back layered with lots of greases
Arms, legs and bellies bare.
Hot summer days
Chilly water waves
After a long day of play
The beach has come to save.
