What's it like?

There’s a world out there
A world I’ve never seen
Where hunger, death, and poverty
Prevail

And somehow, I can’t grasp it
What’s it like to be out there?

What’s it like to be a child
Labouring day and night?

To be a woman,
Trying hard not to care,
Lest her child be taken away?

What’s it like to live alone,
Hungry, lost, or cold?

What’s it like to be a soldier,
Away from love, and home?

What’s it like to lose a loved one,
To feel that all is lost?

To be betrayed,
By someone dear to your heart?

What is it like to feel hated,
To be innocent behind bars?

What’s it like to feel hunted,
Or be unwillingly controlled?

What’s it like?

To be a slave?

To be an orphan?

To be kidnapped?

To be homeless?

To be left behind?

To be beaten?

To be bullied?

To have no one care?

What’s it like

To be out there?

We hear all the time about the horrors in our world- about the poverty, the injustice, the cruelty happening every day. But do we really understand it?
