Shock Treatment
I read somewhere that
Lou Reed received shock treatment
as a kid and I found that kind of
funny because he always
sort of reminded me of
this
bohemian Frankenstein
carved in opium clay and lobotomized
and subsequently brought to life
at the altar of the carnal flesh of Chuck Berry
by sounds so carmine and corporeal.
Lou, resurrected by temptation,
I, 17, tempted,
swallowed whole by cold hands
and chest cavity,
a cadaver no longer,
gave myself away --
and we were listening to White Light/White Heat
I think, on vinyl he didn't deserve to own,
our own
private
shock treatment.
