"The eyes of others our prisons; their thoughts our cages" ~Virginia Woolf

A star filled with lost hope,
forbidden from ever being found
yet here she stands on the sea
looking at the calls of the sirens
killing all those who dare to hunt
for a star filled with lost hope.

The siren's don't scream at her
for trying to escape her barren home
but dare to sing more sailors to their
untimely lonely cruel death
leaving the lost star all alone
crying herself to sleep beneath the stars.

She fears for the lives of the sailors
who dare hunt for her and the wish
she holds close to her heart
hoping for someone to take her tears away
and hold her close when she feels all alone.

She is all alone on her lost island
until one day the sirens are slain
in their beloved loveless sea
and a crew of sailors find her
hiding in her cave filled with sea glass
that always gave her hope for a new day,
until the sirens killed another sailor.

They talk to her,
but she refuses to speak,
scared of what they will find out,
or that they will steal her wish.

The sailors take her to their captain,
the captain, James, slowly earns
the trust of the star of lost hope
and wishes for her to be free
from the binds that hold her
to the island and its seas.

I was inspired by the drawings someone made about a girl on my class' board, and I wondered how the girl would feel if she saw the drawing.
