When I Was Young
When I was young,
I wore a t-shirt
to the beach.
I had red curly, hair,
with soft, fair skin
that had to be protected.
When I was young,
my only worry in the world
was washing the salt out of my suit.
When I was young,
my dad was my best friend
and we would build the biggest sandcastles.
The waves were no match
for me, my dad,
and my floaties.
When I was young,
we would swim in the pool
after a day of playing.
Saying goodbye to the sea foam and sand,
we would go back up to the condo
and tomorrow we would do it all over again.
