Their anger hurts my ears
Silence for seventeen years
A family torn apart
Nobody cares but this one
I hate you, I hate you, I hate you
The sound it echoes
Rhythm of the night, and ode to light
Their words hurt my ears
Fear for seventeen years
Glass shatters, hearts clatter
A hurricane at home
Run in fear?
Or cling to all you know
The wind it destroys, taking half it’s tow
Their fighting hurts my ears
Torn for seventeen years
In the eye of the storm
The final words cut deep
Band-Aid ripped, wounds left to bleed
Tension released, the avalanche now can fall
Their separation rings in my ears
Tears for the rest of my years

A family separating can be easily compared to the damage brought upon by a storm, this is what I tried to capture with this piece.
