The Greater War
In the year of 1945
a great war was coming to an end.
As a nation's tyrannic leader hid
and left the young, weak, and old to fend.
As the barbaric Soviet soldiers
struck down Berlin layer by layer,
anyone who was German caught themselves
saying their final last prayer.
On top of the building there was no longer a great, big swastika they call the angel of death,
but a different flag of closure, peace, and a new beginning
in which we humans have always dreamt.
As the bodies stacked high,
and destruction was dealt,
we all must ask,
How could I have helped?
