Heartbreak Dawn
Sitting under a willow tree in the cool dewy grass, waiting for the sunrise
Listening to the waves on the lake and waiting for the sunrise
I’m feeling the cool morning breeze. Almost done waiting
The sun stretches slowly above the mountain line
 And the sun finally rises
Coming like the fall of maple leaf
Or a wave before it crests
 Round red and beautiful
 Warmth caresses my face
A new day is here and it is wonderful
Sitting under the willow tree head against his shoulder
We have been friends forever and things are beautiful
The lake laps gently on the shore line and things are calm
But a dark cloud has crossed the surface and a shadow takes joy away
Alone and forgotten I sit under the willow and watch the lake lap at the shore, broken and filled with heartache
