I stepped into a familiar river
Hoping for stability
It swept me with its current
Legs already wet
Giving out from under me

I threw my watch in the pool
Wishing for stoppage
It was waterproof
Hands swiftly moving
Laughing at my folly

I put a snowball in my fridge
Yearning for standstill
It melted
Water dripping down
Tickling my lunacy

I broke a cash register
Looking for change
It got me arrested
Steel cold on my wrists
Surrounding my fatuity
