Scarlet Covers

By , Cannon Falls, MN
Through these-
these bloodshot blotchy eyes
I see a world,
turned to rubble
the glimmer,
to sand
the glamor,
to dust
settling over the land
and across the corpses.

As we load families into a car
we load ammunition into guns
we are
xenophobic
as the red rain drapes itself
across this, a
solitude
wall.
