i went about my day
As it were like any other,
I saw her on your arm
And i could tell you
Really loved her.
I saw the way she looked at you,
I know that she felt safe;
But if she glances over here
My own life i shall take.
I saw that she was pretty,
You two make a perfect match;
Shes glamorous and classy
With the most infectious laugh.
You didnt know it'd break my heart
You didn't know my name,
I'd wish for you and care for you
And love you all the same.
I looked over at you longingly
And sorrow filled my being,
You filled my fate with purpose
And you give my days a meaning.
For years I've been discouraged
And I've watched you from afar,
These tears start trailing down my cheeks,
Frequency leaves a scar.
I guess if you remotely knew
About me things would change;
You'd hold me in your arms
And look at me some special way.
But if she makes you happy,
Who would I be to protest?
I won't stick around to watch this
But i wish you both the best.
Just as I am leaving I had passed you in the hall;
She smiles at me, I smile back
And leave so proud and tall.
Everyone would always say
That love would set me free;
Trust it's true, i learned it too,
Because you smiled at me.
