Final Stretch
Exhausted, beat up, the men
are on the verge of break.
Fighting side by side,
hand in hand.
Rifles, hats, and camo,
the men are prepared
for what awaits
in the depths of
the forests’ stomach.
A Lifeless environment
hidden by the fogs cloak.
Soldiers drudged along
the bitter and fierce
trails of Hell.
I reminisce not
only of home,
but of my
wife and kids.
It only takes
one finger, one trigger,
one scared soul.
That’s all it needs,
to end one’s
future forever.
