Favorite Quote:
"Everyone suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known."
- F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Sublime as the evanescence of a fettered sky,
the fragile insides of a chest that beats alive
and in that shattered chest which hides
a heart that beats with lies.

So what companion
and what true love?
what confidant
will be the one?
That Judas who stabs
That Brutus who laughs
The Benedict that shoots the gun?

A stab, a twist
Some smoke, a hiss
or words -- just off the tongue?

The author's comments:
I was thoroughly disgusted after hearing someone foul-mouth their best friend; looking back at all the traitors in history, this poem just came to me.
