The Man With No Home
I walked through the street
This night no different than any other
The air was thin, the lights were dim
The moon's light illuminates the world around me
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man
He sat cold and lonely under the half lit street light
He caught sight of me
I tried to ignore him and keep walking
He crawled towards me
I just walked a little faster
I faintly heard his voice speaking to me
It pierced my heart
"Please sir" He pleaded
"Please spare me some change"
Something inside me wouldn't allow me to ignore this man
I turned around slowly
"Here" I said softly
I took twenty dollars out of my pocket and gave it to the man
He looked at me and told me a story
Although he didn't say a word
He didn't speak to me with his voice
It was his eyes that spoke so loudly
They were screaming out for help
They comforted me as I looked at the man, just overwhelmed with grief and gratitude
