Humiliation
It was as if
One minute the world was bustling, busy
But the next
Time had frozen
Leaving only me to stare
At the fast-coming flood of horror and dread
My skin burning red
My lips stiff
My eyes bewildered
Nothing to do but let waves
Crash over me, one after another
Somehow I’m still standing, even though
My utmost wish
Is to sink out of sight
My voice soundlessly screams
Make it stop
Make it stop
Please just make it stop
