Where were you?
Let’s just pretend, I wiped away
All the excuses in your mind.
You now have no choice but to be
Honest. So here’s the first question,
Where were you?
I was so jealous of other people.
They got to have a person like you around.
I actually don’t think jealousy would
Be a word to describe the way I felt.
And yet the only thing that would
Pop in my mind was, where were you?
Not only did I feel left out, I
Felt like I had a huge weight on
My shoulders. The weight consisted
Of me feeling like this was all my
Fault, the reason you weren’t around.
But where were you to tell me I wasn’t the cause?
I was told I was better off
Knowing you weren’t around. But
I bet you have would’ve helped get through a lot
More things, if you only knew.
For many years I didn’t understand the reason
Why. So can you help me answer
The question, where were you?
The important things in my life
And you’ve missed them.
There is no way to go back in
Time and try for a re-do.
They’re over and done with.
Too bad, so sad, for you! Its sucks
That you were not around, but that
Is all on you. What the hell was
So important that you couldn’t be there?
Where were you?
Not once did I ever consider
Myself a daddy’s girl. But
Do you know how bad I wanted
To? I guess not because you weren’t there!
Maybe the question shouldn’t
Be where were you? But it should be a
Question you ask yourself,
Where was I?
