To Remember

They say when ones life ends
Another one begins
Just like a book or series
A rope tied end to end

But what about between
The bindings of that book
Or the threads tightly woven
In the rope in the ships crannies and nooks

Will anyone stop and notice
Will anyone ever dare?
To think of that long gone person
Who maybe once was cared?

Will they be thrown away?
Something old for something knew
Maybe if just one person remembered
But you don’t really care do you

I’m just rambling on
To that ordinary fool
Who wouldn’t stop to wonder
Who didn’t think that it was “cool”.

That person may have been special
But then again maybe not
Why take that risk
Even when the price is naught

So I will say goodbye
And travel on my way
To find that one special person
To me only a minute they will pay

To listen to my stories
Of the people no one knows
Except for those who listen
For those who care to know

But I will always remember
For if I don’t who will
Of that person who was forgotten
In that old abandoned mill…

I was inspired to write this poem by King Gilgamesh, a character in the book, The Magician, by Michael Scott.

Really opened my eyes to look beyond the surface of people. It really doesn't costs  anything to try and understand the real fabric of someone who doesn't stand out.
