Encephalopathy
Hard to comprehend at the age of three
What reality really meant to me
When robbers chose to pick on the elderly
War raged in a desert across the sea
Today, same s**t
‘Nother dealer gets hit
In this coldblooded city that confines and declines
Watching the same old headlines
Drugs, gangs, cops, kids, and crime
Hard to notice for the grown-ups, ‘cause money equals time
When you have strain your neck, just to make an extra dime
Hard to figure out and sort it out – the things that cloud my mind
When myself is what I have to find.
Homeless man, tell me your plan
Try to make me understand
What it’s like to be kicked out
What this world’s really about
Metro train, come again
Why endure such cruel pain
Known as apathy, encephalopathy
a.k.a. insanity, social abnormality
Analogy for national mentality
Politicians curve the blame
Everyday, it’s all the same
Everyday, the numbers game.
Crazy enough to make a blind man cry
Crazy enough to make a childhood die
Crazy enough to make a student ask why
The teacher replies
“Because, because…”, and another of her helpless sighs
So simplified.
