I wish it could be
I would like to be Neruda, so I can write you
Twenty poems of love, and a despaired song;
I would like to be Dario, so I write you
The song of the night at the sea,
I wish it could be.
But I am who I am, and that’s how it is,
I might not be cute, I might not be rich,
And the only things a have are my poems and dreams,
Two eyes, my hair, my lips, and a pen with no ink.
I can write you poems ever day,
Inspired by your beautiful hair,
But, it wouldn't matter, because
You will never read any of them.
I can sing you a song, and I can show you the stars,
But, it wouldn't matter, because
You will never be mine.
