Afraid
As the faded memories,
Creep their way,
Into the back of my mind,
All I do
Is freeze.
Watching them replay themselves,
One after another,
Slowly but painfully.
I watch helplessly,
With tears rolling down my cheeks,
Remembering
What was
And what will never be again.
My bottled up anger
Finally pours over the top
And I lose control.
As I stand there,
Stranded with millions of running thoughts,
I realize yet again,
You've taught me
The meaning
Of fear.
