Endless Pain

My heart is aching
my mind shuts down
the world stops spinning 'round and 'round
my hands are shaky
my breathing's shallow
I can't make a sound
the tears leak out
rivers down my cheeks
my trembling lips
my eyes that seek
comfort has fled
no hand to hold
no anchor to keep me on the ground
I miss your presence
your cheerful laugh
the comfort I found sitting on your lap
my heart has torn
my feelings shredded
my body's weak
I'm undefended
but I'll go on
and I'll get through this
cause you know I'm strong but my pain seems endless.

The author's comments:
I wrote this when my parents got a divorce. I wasn't in a very good place and I needed a safe release. I found it in this poem. I'm in a much better place now and I hope anyone who reads this knows that things can get bad, but they won't be forever.
