Final Battle
It’s hard to watch the ones you love go downhill,
To watch the strongest of them fall,
To watch them conquer the world,
And then leave it,
The ones that say I’ll go out kicking and screaming,
Now still and silent,
They used to battle the odds,
But now the odds have won,
The unconquerable enemy has come to their kingdom,
And you have to sit and watch,
You want to scream to fight for them,
But it’s their kingdom and their fight,
The battle you cannot fight for them,
The battle they must lose this time,
Even if the enemy has come before and been beaten back,
Someday he will not be,
And all that was yours will be theirs,
Because you can’t take it with you,
And one day Death will win.
