"What doesn't hurt you only makes you stronger"

A word that should never be spoken.
Filled with sorrow and despair.
Sometimes come unspoken.
Dreadful and overused.
The secret meaning behind the word.
Goodbye is like a flock of birds taking flight.
Like the sunset in the vast sky.
And the trees shedding their leaves in the fall.
Goodbye is that moment when your heart breaks.
The anguish that fills you.
The depression consumes you.
Goodbye is the fear that burns through your soul.
Questioning whether or not it is the end.
Goodbye is an omen.
The end encroaching upon you.
The feel of death spreading through your body.
From your toes to the tips of your fingers.
Numbing you and dulling your senses.
Knocking you breathless.
Goodbye is the experience of loss.
The remorse you feel for letting it end.
Submission to defeat.
Throwing in the towel and giving up.
Goodbye is when all hope is lost.
And nothing is left to live for.
When your eyes dim instead of shine.
And your heart palpitates off tempo and sputters.
Your life obsolete.
Goodbye is the symbol of the end.
Death waits to pull you down.
To suffocate you, to drown you.
Although…
With goodbye comes a new beginning.
Winter ends, the trees obtain little new seedlings.
Waiting to grow into vibrant colorful leaves.
The birds return and the sun rises.
New life is born into the world.
Goodbye signifies the end and new beginnings.

I hate goodbyes....
