The Monster Inside of Me

O’ how well you deceive
Again I’ve fallen to me knees
I swore you’d never be
In control over me
But here I am,
I’m down again,
And in need of a friend
You promise me relief
From all my pain and grief
Claim you’re the way
To keep him away
I reach for you, unaware
Your promises aren’t true
It’s all false hope
Now you’re in my head,
Telling me I’m better dead
Forcing me to forget,
Letting me hold regret
These thoughts aren’t my own
I want to cry out, “Leave me alone!”
Because, now I know your game.
