It Flashes

It flashes.
Like lightening,
It burns.
Engraved words into flesh.
The ridicule cannot compare
To the torture in my head.
The dangerous time,
Is the time to myself;
The questions,
The answers,
They slam into my mind.
Leaving skid marks
And scars;
They’re a constant reminder.
Confusion stings,
A brand to the hide;
Imprinting the lies
That they left behind.
The jewels in her eyes;
They sing
Songs of perfection.
The future waits.
Holds its breath,
Waiting for fate.
