I Promise

"Run," I hear in my mind
"Get out," cries my heart
"This isn't real! No one can truly accept you," screams my mind.
"You can't trust anyone," my heart says painfully
I shake my head to silence my brain
I start pacing
You notice my distress, and hold me in your arms
I struggle, but it's impossible
I'm breathing deeply
Tears fall onto the floor
"Please," I whisper, "Don't leave."
"I promise," you respond
My heart rate lowers
My mind starts to clear
"Keep holding me," my mind says
"Love me," my heart begs
"I promise," you say
