Purple Buckets
My breath is gone
And my dreams left, too
The past has won
And I am overdone
The trees laughed in silence
As the earth grew louder
And the ocean overflowed
As their eyes grew wider
Raindrops handed the old dwellings their best
He brought out purple buckets
And acted as if the leak went to rest
Those purple buckets remain today
As a friend ever could, as he ever was
The dreams still lifted
As a purple bucket still does
