The Unwinnable War
Every day was a battle
I never gave ground
I could not lose this war
In my mind the consequence
Was worse than death
This was not a regular war
It was not fought on
Fields
Towns
Oceans
There were no deaths
This was a war fought at
The kitchen table
The living room
Anywhere and everywhere
I thought I held all the cards
But I found out that I had no cards
I lost the war and I didn’t leave
My home for a weak
I was in denial
But as I looked at my house
I realized
That I fought a war against myself
